Moran Technology Consulting (MTC) has been a strong partner with EDUCAUSE for many years (yep, 20+ years). Early in 2022, we approached EDUCAUSE to talk about a major long-term issue facing our college and university clients: Hiring IT staff was and still is becoming harder and harder. We need a multi-faceted strategy for this, and a key one is that we need to ‘grow our own IT staff’ through hiring recent graduates and soon-to-be graduates and training them. We strategized with EDUCAUSE and we began collaboration discussions to come up with some new ideas.
The result of this collaboration with EDUCAUSE is a program that provides a scholarship package called the “Professional Pipeline Student Scholarship” to students of color and poverty-affected students (and other individuals with a commitment to such communities) who are considering a career in higher education IT. The package includes:
- Complimentary registration to the EDUCAUSE Annual Conference
- 15 hours of event mentoring
- A VIP orientation to the conference
- A meal with EDUCAUSE leadership
Nominations for the scholarship require a professional at an EDUCAUSE member institution to speak to the distinguishing factors for the nominee to attend the conference if awarded a scholarship.
This program is an outstanding opportunity for participants and is a concrete extension of our firm’s longstanding commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education IT. MTC would like to extend our congratulations to the 2022 EDUCAUSE recipients, who we are looking forward to meeting at the 2022 Annual Conference in Denver this week!
