Job Title: Senior Consultant – Data & Analytics
Practice: Data & Analytics
Reports To: Data & Analytics Practice Lead
Status: Full-Time
The Data and Analytics Senior Consultant is a primary resource for delivering value to clients on data and analytics engagements. The Senior Consultant will need to be comfortable working across different types of initiatives, depending on client needs at any point in time. These include:
- Data Advisory – Working with institutions on current state assessments, roadmaps, and data strategies to help enhance the internal data and analytics value proposition and improve data operations for our clients.
- Data Engineering – Supporting our clients that have technical needs around data architecture and engineering, utilizing different toolsets to creatively solve problems.
The Senior Consultant will use the Moran Technology Consulting (Moran) methodology, approach, and frameworks to provide a meaningful impact on client goals and objectives. This requires a motivated individual with an aptitude to learn and be challenged to develop expertise in a rapidly changing field. Collaboration is critical in the support of clients, so relationship management is important for an individual to be successful in consulting and client engagement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Actively collaborate with client stakeholders to understand their unique needs and challenges on engagements.
- Help support the practice through development of new and refinement of existing methodologies, with a focus on creating value for our clients.
- Deliver data and analytics expertise and services to clients that provide value as a part of defined statements of work.
- Develop deliverables that lead to positive outcomes by offering reasonable & tailored work products.
- Support client relationships by building trust and transparency and delivering value.
- Manage work and projects using appropriate project management methods.
- Support pre-sales opportunities by meeting with potential clients on sales calls or at vendor sales locations.
- Train and develop expertise in data and analytics to stay up to date and valuable on client engagements and community interactions.
- Protect institutional data and assets that you are given access to by abiding by institutional requirements and Moran guidance on data handling.
- Create documentation when necessary to support projects, or internal information sharing.
- Provide direction to team members, junior consultants, and interns as needed.
- Most work is done during normal business hours; however, this may occasionally and temporarily change depending on client needs, time zones, deadlines, or personal preference.
- Some travel may be necessary.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position may provide work direction for team members, junior consultants, and interns but does not have any direct supervisory responsibilities at this time.

Education and/or Experience
- This position requires a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; 3 to 7 years of experience in data related roles; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- This position requires someone that is comfortable operating at all levels of the data stack (technology, people, and processes) from the underlying data engineering up to the overarching data strategy.
- Experience in one of more of the following areas:
- Data Strategy & Planning – Management or support in defining the future of data and analytics at an institutional level, including the roadmap to get from current state to future state.
- Data Conversion – Management and/or execution of mapping legacy data to target platform data structures, building ETL tools to convert datasets, and supporting business reconciliation processes.
- Data Engineering – Working with business stakeholders to understand requirements, building out of data pipelines, developing complex transformations, and/or development of dashboards/reports for end-users.
- Proficient in SQL, with a strong understanding of procedures, functions, and complex queries.
- Proficient in other languages such as R and Python is a plus.
- Experience with data visualization tools to build end-user dashboards and reports.
- ERP Platform Experience Preferred – Banner, Oracle Cloud, PeopleSoft, Workday, etc.
- Data Platform Experience Preferred – Azure, AWS, Google, Snowflake
- Higher education employment experience is preferred.
- Consulting or client relationship management experience is preferred.

Remote Work
This position is 100% remote work. As such, an individual must have suitable space to conduct virtual meetings and to work on deliverables and other essential duties. In some cases, an individual may need to travel to a client location, conference, or company meeting.
