Higher education institutions served

Not in the Same Place

One institution is ready for a shared service model. Another still needs local flexibility. One wants a common platform now. Another is carrying older systems, different policies, or less staff capacity. Governance meetings get longer while decisions get slower. Service expectations start drifting. Consortium and university systems stall when members have misaligned priorities.

What We See

Clients often come to us with questions about cost allocation, local exceptions, and who gets to decide. Those questions can turn a promising collaboration into a stalled one. Research on higher education shared services and consortia keeps returning to the same fault lines: mission, membership, governance, funding, service quality, and the need to improve capacity without ignoring institutional variation.

Move Forward Together

System leaders need clarity across the board, from what should actually be shared to how service levels can be set. We help create a model that works for all members.

Our team helps system leaders and consortia members think through what should be shared, how services should be governed, and what technology decisions can realistically be made together. Whether the work involves identity and access management, data governance, cybersecurity, or shared ERP and SIS planning, we help institutions build capacity in ways that members can recognize as workable.

Shared Strategy, Clear Structure

We help consortia and systems shape a shared services model that member institutions can get behind. By aligning governance, service expectations, cost allocation, and technology planning, we create a practical framework for identity and access management, data governance, cybersecurity, and shared ERP and SIS decisions.

Moran has worked with dozens of higher education systems and consortia to assess, plan, and deliver shared technology initiatives, including system-wide IT assessments, cross-institutional IAM architectures, shared credentialing platforms, and multi-year shared services collaborations.
