Naperville, IL – November 12, 2025 – Moran Technology Consulting, Inc. (Moran), a leading higher education management and technology consulting firm, is pleased to announce the promotion of Jim VanLandeghem to Practice Lead – IAM Strategy. In this role, Jim will lead the practice’s efforts in Identity and Access Management (IAM) solution design, architecture, strategic planning, vision development, and road-mapping.
Universities depend on their IAM programs to both protect and enable teaching, learning, and research in an increasingly complex and rapidly evolving landscape. Institutions of higher education are grappling with demands to effectively manage a highly diverse and transient user base, meet strict compliance requirements, and enable seamless access to an expanding range of digital tools and research platforms, all while remaining secure, scalable, and student-centered. Moran’s IAM Strategy practice exists to ensure that our clients have an effective, proactive, and tailored IAM strategy in place…and that they are able to execute their plan. We enable IAM programs that modernize digital experience, deliver continuous improvement, and transform the digital campus.
The IAM Strategy practice offers services such as assessments, strategic plans, roadmaps, IAM platform evaluation and selection, as well as virtual IAM team and architect services.
“Many institutions are experiencing issues with trust and the perceived value of traditional secondary education. Changing demographics and user expectations of the digital experience are resulting in a decline in traditional enrollment that is compounded by increased competition and decreased funding, resulting in a need to do more with less, to simplify the administration of each university, and to become more supportable, sustainable, and affordable. Furthermore, the modern education and research environment is entangled with technologies and services that struggle to provide an open environment while maintaining principles of zero trust. Schools are responding to all of these challenges in a number of ways, but the solution usually intersects with, depends on, or is influenced by IAM,” Jim said. “Today’s IAM programs stand at the intersection of mission, technology, and innovation, and I am proud to lead Moran’s efforts to help institutions navigate this complicated topic so that they are able to protect and empower education, tackle increasingly complex identity challenges, and lead digital transformation.”
“Jim has an incredible track record as both a strategist helping institutions work through their IAM challenges and as a practitioner within higher ed – he served as an adjunct faculty member teaching information technology, cybersecurity, and networking courses for over a decade!” said Scott Weyandt, Vice President of Digital Identity & Security. “He deeply understands how to develop strategies capable of managing and evolving complex identity ecosystems while driving digital transformation. As institutions face growing security challenges, evolving regulatory demands, and increased pressure to modernize, Jim’s leadership will be instrumental in helping our clients create strategies and roadmaps to achieve secure, scalable, and future-ready identity solutions.”
“Jim’s deep experience and strategic insight strengthens our ability to support institutions as they navigate growing cybersecurity demands, complex user ecosystems, and the rapid shift to cloud and digital learning,” said CEO Charlie Moran. “We’re proud to promote a proven team member into this role, reflecting Moran’s commitment to being a trusted partner to higher education, helping institutions understand how to design identity solutions that are as resilient and future-focused as the institutions we serve.”
