Moran Names Derek Limoseth as Implementation Practice Lead for Digital Identity & Security

Derek Limoseth, Implementation Practice Lead for Digital Identity & Security, has years of experience planning and managing complex projects for colleges, universities, and university systems.

Naperville, IL – November 11, 2025  – Moran Technology Consulting, Inc. (Moran), a leading higher education management and technology consulting firm, is pleased to announce the promotion of Derek Limoseth to Implementation Practice Lead for Digital Identity & Security. In this role, Derek will lead the practice’s efforts to design, build, and deliver cybersecurity and Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions.

Derek’s appointment comes at a pivotal time, as Moran has seen an increased demand from clients and mounting pressures on colleges and universities to rapidly modernize IAM. Institutions must now support non-traditional learners, certificate programs, online and hybrid learning, and more transactional forms of education. The demands on IAM have never been more complex or critical, and the institutions that get it right not only safeguard themselves, but transform the digital campus by enabling innovation, inclusion, scalability, and resilience in the face of accelerating threats and changing expectations.

“I’m excited to step into this role at a time when colleges and universities are being asked to do more than ever before,” Derek said. “This practice helps institutions transform IAM from an IT function into a cross-campus strategic enabler capable of addressing new economic pressures, shifting student expectations, and the rise of AI. At Moran, we’ve seen this shift firsthand through our more than 200 IAM projects across higher education. We don’t just implement products, we deliver tailored solutions and empower our clients to run them confidently without vendor dependence, leaving them ready to face tomorrow’s challenges.”

“Derek possesses the rare blend of technical expertise, strategic vision, and profound commitment to the success of our clients that are needed in this role,” said Scott Weyandt, Vice President of Digital Identity & Security. “During his tenure at Moran, Derek has successfully led over 100 successful IAM implementations at every type of institution, from small liberal arts colleges to large research universities, and has proven that he has the discipline, vision, and expertise to lead our Implementation Practice during this time of increasing need for our services. We are thrilled to have him on our leadership team.”

“As a firm, we are focused on ensuring Moran has the right leadership in place to not just deliver solutions but expand on our longstanding reputation as trusted partners in securing the future of higher education,” added CEO Charlie Moran. “Derek is a seasoned professional who understands how to navigate the unique set of challenges in this sector, which range from managing a highly diverse and transient user base, to meeting strict compliance requirements, to enabling seamless access to an expanding range of digital tools and research platforms. Having someone at the helm who not only understands the technical complexities of IAM, but also the mission and culture of higher education, allows us to deliver solutions that are secure, scalable, and student-centered. Derek’s appointment speaks to our commitment to serve as a strategic partner to institutions navigating digital transformation and we are thrilled to have Derek helping to lead us forward.”
